Following graduation he enlisted in the United States Navy serving from Dec 1942 thru Dec 1948. He is a veteran of W.W. 2. After his Honorable Discharge he worked as a Merchant Sailor on the Great Lakes from 1949 until 1952. Wallace was united in marriage to Jeanette Carlson in 1952 and to this union 6 children were born. He moved to Mora, MN in 2004 to be nearer to Jean but in February of 2004, his loving wife of 52 years passed away. He stayed in Mora many active and fulfilling years enjoying the companionship of his neighbors and church friends. After staying with different family members he entered the Veteran’s Home in January of 2017 due to failing health. Wally raised the food his family ate, including livestock and organic gardening. He also enjoyed bee keeping and admiring the wildlife God gave us. He loved playing volleyball with his family and church groups over the years and played cards right into his 90's.Wally enjoyed fixing and repairing almost anything for his neighbor, friends and even strangers! But what he will most fondly be remembered for was his infectious laugh and gentle teasing with children from ages 1 to 103!
