Rosalyn M. Geisdorf, “Rosie”, 80, formerly of Fairchild, passed away peacefully in the loving care of her family and St. Croix Hospice at the Augusta Health and Rehab on Wednesday, Feb. 26, 2020.
Rosalyn Marie Geisdorf, daughter of Floyd and Evelyn (Sveum) Severson was born August 31, 1939, in the Requa area of Garfield Township, Jackson County. She attended Requa Country School and graduated from Osseo Lincoln Hills High School.
Rosie was united in marriage to Donald J. Geisdorf on Dec. 2, 1961, at Osseo Lutheran Church. To this union 4 children were born and the couple lived all their married life in Fairchild. In addition to raising her children, Rosie had worked as a nurse’s aide for 30 years. She was exceptional at her job as she was caring, loving and fun. She had worked at the Sunset Nursing Home in Fairchild until it closed and then at the Augusta Area Nursing Home. When the new home open in Fairchild she started there, where she worked until her retirement. When this home closed and it was converted into the Fairchild Senior Apartments she moved from her home to her apartment there. Due to failing health she had been a resident of the Augusta Health and Rehab since 2015. Some of her former co workers later became her care givers and she adored them, which was a blessing when making this transition.
Rosie’s world revolved around her family and her favorite pastime was spent with them visiting, playing cards, traveling, and going for a ride and out for lunch.
Rosie will be dearly missed by her 4 children, Pam and Mark Dalton of Fairchild, Michael and Sandy Geisdorf of San Diego, TX, Cindy and Rick Knuth of Fowlerton, TX, Lori and Mark Abel of Willard; their father, Don Geisdorf a resident of the Augusta Health and Rehab; 17 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; brother, James and Mary Severson of Price; sisters-in-law, Marian Severson of Osseo, Pat Palkowski of Independence, Diane Dreyer, Nancy Scholze and Karen Geisdorf all of Fairchild, Jane Mayer of Neillsville; special friend Renita Pooler of the Augusta Assisted Living; and several nieces and nephews.
Rosie was preceded in death by her brother Robert Severson; sister, Darlene and Dennis Claflin; granddaughter Ashley M. Dalton; great granddaughter Greta Rose Bedell; and father and mother-in-law, James and Angeline Geisdorf. .
A visitation will be held Saturday, Feb. 29, 2020, from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Fairchild, with a memorial service at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday at the church with Pastor Jonathan Wessel officiating.
Burial will be at a later date in the Fairchild Cemetery.
The family would like to take this opportunity to thank Rosie’s “girls” at the nursing home for the wonderful care and compassion shown to her. Your love and kindness will never be forgotten. Also to St. Croix Hospice for making her final days peaceful and for helping the family through this process.
