William David Lewis Jr., the son of William and Marcella (Bendush) Lewis was born August 24, 1936, in Oswego, Illinois. He was raised in Oswego where he attended grade school and graduated from high school. Following high school he enlisted in the United States Army and served as a clerk on a base in Alabama. Bill was united in marriage to Dixie Klar on January 29, 1960, in Aurora, Illinois. The couple lived in the Aurora area where Bill was employed in the chemical formulation department of a paint factory. In 1975 he moved with his family to a farm south of Augusta in Bridge Creek Township. They returned to Aurora in 1985, and when he retired they moved back to Wisconsin and settled in their home in Garfield Township, rural Fairchild. Bill enjoyed working in his garden and with wood working projects. He also loved hunting and the entertainment in a local casino visit.
Bill will be dearly missed by his 3 children, Debra Zeyher of Florida, Bill and Nancy Lewis of Augusta, Mitzi and David Halvorson of Augusta; 2 step daughters, Betsy Compton and Kay Brahan; 6 grandchildren, Michael Linden, Erin and Ryan Johnson, Samantha Lewis, David and Carrie Halvorson, Emily Halvorson, and Scott Halvorson; great granddaughter, Eliza; and brother Gary and Cynthia Lewis of Florida.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents; and wife Dixie on Nov. 16, 2012.
Burial will be in the spring in the East Lawn Cemetery in Augusta.
