John “Jack” Boullion, 80, of Fairchild, passed away early Sunday morning Dec. 26, 2021, at Clark County Rehabilitation and Living where he had resided since early 2021.
Jack was born in Eau Claire on August 15, 1941, one of 11 children born to Gerald and Bernadette (Kaufman) Boullion. As an infant his family moved to their farm in Cleveland Township, rural Fairchild in 1942. Jack attended school in Fairchild, graduating from Fairchild High School in 1959.
Jack was united in marriage to Mary Jinkerson on Jan. 20, 1962, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church- Fairview, rural Fairchild. The couple lived briefly in Wisconsin Rapids and Eau Claire before returning to Fairchild in 1966.
Jack was handy at many things and with his love for the outdoors he worked in positions that kept him outside as much as possible. He had roofed with Charlie Henzel’s crew, farmed on his own and with his family, cut many cords of wood and raised and sold strawberries. He especially enjoyed hunting and fishing mostly in Wisconsin, but made several fishing trips to Canada and hunted in Colorado and was fortunate to have shot a large moose in Alaska.
He enjoyed softball and had served as the President of the Fairchild Softball Association where he coached and organized several softball tournaments.
Jack was a man who loved hunting. Even though he had no kids of his own, he raised several and was a wonderful father figure and a great friend and teacher to anyone who wanted to learn, especially how to hunt. Jack was always willing to help a stranger stranded along the road and enjoyed talking hunting with his brothers over a cup of coffee at the farm. We’re sure Jack is in heaven whispering down to his brother Rick’s ear, “my buck is still bigger than yours.”
Jack will be dearly missed by his brothers, Gerald. (Mary Ann) Boullion Jr of Bossier, LA, LaVerne (Sherry) Boullion of Mazomanie, Richard (Vicki) Boullion, Clifford Boullion all of Fairchild; 4 sisters, Patricia Barney of Novi, MI, Rebecca Stanley of Humbird, Carol (Dennis) Blang of Monona, WI, Catherine Bertrang of Fairchild; aunt Geraldine Kaufman of Fairchild; brother-in-law Richard Jinkerson of Fairchild; special friend Joy Clements of Fairchild; several nieces, nephews and cousins; close Foster children, Nick Bertrang (Victoria Smith) and Vanessa (Garrett) Walker Rue all of Osseo.
Jack was preceded in death by his wife Mary on Dec. 2, 2013; mother Bernadette on July 1, 1983; father Gerald on Nov. 7, 1988; brother James on Oct. 8, 1994; brothers-in-law, Randy Stanley on Feb. 16, 2009, Jerry Bertrang on Feb. 3, 2016; nephews, Marcus Blang and Chad Stanley; niece Barbara Verdunk; and great nephews, Jordan Boullion and Tim Quinlan.
A celebration of life will be held Saturday, April 9, 2022 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Fairchild Rod and Gun Club, 300 Pond Road, Fairchild, WI.
