Carolyn Jean Hart passed away peacefully in her sleep and was called home to be reunited with family members in Heaven on July 15, 2022, at the age of 85. Carolyn was born on December 13, 1936, the daughter of John Albert and Loretta (Livermore) Frueh. She attended school in Fairchild.
On August 7, 1954, Carolyn was united in marriage to Francis Hart at St. John’s Catholic Church in Fairchild. Francis and Carolyn farmed for many years in the Alma Center area and owned three farms under the name of Hart Acres. Together as a family they showed dairy cattle at many local fairs. Carolyn lived most of her life in the Alma Center area until moving to Fairchild, where she made her home with her son Ken. She had been a resident of The Homeplace in Dorchester for the past year.
Carolyn enjoyed many activities such as ceramics, riding snowmobiles with neighborhood friends, camping, sitting around bonfires, fishing, family reunions, singing karaoke, playing Bingo, watching Milwaukee Brewers and Green Bay Packer games, and ringing her bell when the Packers made touchdowns. She had been active in Homemakers, June Dairy Committee, Jackson County Fair Board, as a 4-H leader and had chaperoned 4-H trips to the East Coast. Later in life she also operated a supper club in Ladysmith. She loved her dog “Mister-Mister” and eating cheese curds and ice cream.
Carolyn was affectionately known to many as “Grandma” and will be truly missed, especially by her six sons, Herman Hart (Pam) of Reedsburg, Don (Paulann) Hart of Alma Center, George (Lynn) Hart of Marshfield, Joe (Mary) Hart of Neillsville, Jim Hart (Carol) of Appleton, and Ken Hart (Heather) of Fairchild. She is further survived by 15 grandchildren; many great and great great grandchildren; sisters, Alice Vold of Black River Falls, Susan (Bob) Niemi of Lodi; brother-in-law, Everett Fox of Elk Mound; and several nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents, Albert and Loretta; husband Francis; daughter Virginia Hart; brother Johnny Frueh; sisters, Nona Frueh, Mary Jane Del Grosso, Rosie Fox, Louise Henne, Ruth Emert; brothers-in-law, Stanley Vold, Fred Emert; and sister-in-law Phyllis Frueh.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, July 26, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Alma Center, with burial at Saint Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Alma Center. Carolyn’s grandchildren will be honored by serving as casket bears.
A visitation will be held from 3 to 7 p.m. on Monday, July 25th. at Anderson Funeral Home in Augusta, and one hour prior to services Tuesday at the church.
A rosary service will be recited at 6:30 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home.
