Jim Colvin
Jim Colvin, 83, of Augusta, passed away Thursday morning, August 8, 2024, at the Veterans Medical Center in Tomah, WI.

Melvin Edgar Colvin, but know to everyone as Jim was born Feb. 4, 1941, to Edgar and Mary Jean (Markham) Colvin. Jim grew up in Augusta where he attended school and went on to serve in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Germany with a MASH unit.

He married Marietta Wallace in Augusta and to this union his 5 children were born. He later married Sharon Ringhand on May 29, 1982, at Grace Lutheran Church in Augusta.

Since his marriage to Sharon he had lived only in Augusta and prior to that had lived in various other areas but always said “Augusta was home.”
He was a member of the Carpenter’s Union having worked for Market & Johnson in Eau Claire for several years, but had also worked in heavy construction building roads, bridges and helped on the tower construction for the power plant in Alma. His final employment was as maintenance director at the Fall Creek Valley Nursing Home.

Jim loved to tinker and build all sorts of things out of wood and sheet metal, big or small he would tackle almost anything. Throughout his life he had always enjoyed fishing and hunting. With Sharon his favorite fishing partner, they shared many enjoyable fishing adventures and when not fishing they were selling their goods at flea markets and always in search of things to buy, and if it needed fixing that made it even more desirable to Jim.

Jim is survived by 2 sons, Joseph (Phalle) Colvin of Livingston, Montana, Howard Colvin of Augusta; daughter, Jeannine (Robert) Hager of Macks Creek, Missouri; 5 grandchildren, Brian and Abbey George, Grace and Danny Colvin, Theresa Watts; 4 great grandchildren, Lucy, Ronan, Eden and McKenna.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Edgar and Mary Jean; children, Jimmy John and Tracy Colvin; granddaughter Kaitlyn Colvin; and wife Sharon.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, August 13, 2024, at 1:00 p.m. at the Anderson Funeral Home in Augusta, with military rites by the Augusta Area Veterans.

Burial will be at a later date in the West Lawn Cemetery in Augusta. Friends may call Tuesday from 11 a.m. until time of services at the funeral home.
