Patricia Meyers
Patricia Jane Meyers, 63, formerly of Osseo and Rice Lake, passed away Thursday evening, June 20, 2024 at the home of her brother and his family in Appleton. For nearly 2 years Patti had battled cancer and 7 months ago moved to Jeff’s home where she eventually entered hospice care.

Patti was born July 11, 1960, the daughter of Stanley and Dorothy (Balliett) Nelson. She lived in Augusta until the age of 5 when her parents moved to Osseo, here she attended grade school and graduated from Osseo - Fairchild High School in 1978. After high school, Patti attended UW-Eau Claire, majoring in History. Patti spent much of her career working in retail in Eau Claire and Rice Lake, most recently working for J. Shoes in Rice Lake. In 1997, Patti was blessed with the birth of her son Justin. She frequently mentioned this was the best day of her life.

Friends and family will remember Patti as a life-long reader, often staying up until the wee hours of the morning reading her favorite books. She enjoyed the company of her many pets – dogs and cats – and in particular was a strong advocate for rescue pets. Patti was an avid fan of the Packers and all other Wisconsin sports teams, and later in life added the University of Virginia Cavaliers when her nephews became student managers for the Cavalier basketball team.

Patti will be dearly missed by her son Justin Meyers (Shaynia) of Rice Lake; mother Dorothy Nelson of Appleton; brother Jeff (Dina) Nelson of Appleton; 3 nephews and niece, Austin, Courtney, Shane and Jeremy Nelson; uncle Harold Nelson of Osseo; aunts, Gladys Wuesteneck of Eau Claire and Barb Balliett of Augusta; several cousins and other relatives.

Patti was preceded in death by her father Stan Nelson on June 18, 2021; grandparents, Oluf and Inga Nelson, Orville and Grace Balliett; uncles, Carl Wuesteneck and Dave Balliett.

A memorial service will be held Tuesday, July 2, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. at Anderson Funeral Home in Augusta, with burial in the West Lawn Cemetery in Augusta. Friends may start calling at noon.
