Barbara Olson
Barbara J. (Jeanie) Olson age 81 of Fairchild, WI, passed away on 03/31/2024 at her home with her family present after a long battle with Alzheimer's disease. She was under Mayo Clinic Home Health and Hospice care.

Jeanie was born on February 23, 1943 to Anton and Arlette (Santo) Varklick. She graduated from Fairchild High School with the class of 1961. Jeanie moved to Milwaukee, WI, and worked for an insurance company before marrying her high school sweetheart Wilfred "Willie" Olson on February 19, 1966 at St. John's Catholic Church in Fairchild. They lived in Milwaukee where their 2 children, Russell and Pamela, were born. Five years later, the family moved to Kenosha to be closer to Will's work and Jeanie began working at St. Catherine's Hospital when both children were in school.

When Willie retired, the couple moved back to the family farm in Fairchild, WI, which had been purchased earlier from her parents. She later went to work part time at Osseo Hospital in the billing department where she made some more great friends.

Jeanie loved being with family, especially during the holidays, baking for them and decorating the house. She also enjoyed socializing with friends, music, dancing, ATVing and served as the Quad County ATV Club treasurer for many years. Jeanie and Willie loved traveling to visit their son Russ and his family in Kenosha and spending the winters with their daughter Pamela and her partner Don in Las Vegas, NV
.
Jeanie will be dearly missed by her family: her loving husband of 58 years Willie; son Russell (America) Olson; daughter Pamela (Don) Olson; two grandchildren Zachary Olson and Dr. Brooke Olson; and one great-grandson Jax Olson. She was preceded in death by her parents; her two sisters, Betty Davis and Rita Mayzik; and her brother David Varklick.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 13, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church - Fairview, rural Fairchild. Visitation will be from 4pm-6pm on Friday at Anderson Funeral Home in Augusta and one hour prior to services Saturday at the church. Burial will be in St. John’s Catholic Cemetery in Fairchild. Memorials will be given in her name to the local Alzheimer's organization. The Olson family wishes to thank Eau Claire County Mayo Clinic Home Health and Hospice for all their help, the ADRC of Eau Claire County and Father Peter Kieffer.
