Donald Albert Sell, 74, rural Fall Creek, passed away Saturday morning, June 29, 2024, surrounded by his loving family in the home where he was raised and spent his entire life.
The son of Edwin and Viola (Klatt) Sell, Don was raised with his 8 siblings on the family farm in Lincoln Township, rural Fall Creek. He was baptized, confirmed and continued his life long membership at St. John’s Lutheran Church. His early education was at Geisler Country School and then attended Fall Creek High School.
Early on as a child Don knew he wanted to be a farmer. He and his siblings grew up working the farm with their parents before Don eventually took it over. Don’s family, the crops and the animals were his life. Not having any children of his own he was especially close with his nieces and nephews who he taught his knowledge of working with the land and animals. They worked hard, often eating on the go, but also enjoyed the time spent with their uncle, not knowing what pranks Uncle Don would pull next to keep them on their toes.
He enjoyed visiting with whoever stopped by, but didn’t venture far from home otherwise. A few hospitals stays and a bout in a Chippewa Falls nursing home was the only time he didn’t sleep in his own bed at home. He never traveled far from home, but was content with his lifestyle that he dearly loved. Don struggled with illness for over 12 years, but still managed to work the farm and only just recently had to rely on neighbors to take over the crops.
Don will be deeply missed by his brother, Duane (Elaine) Sell of Augusta; 4 sisters, Judith (Harold Sr.) Jackson, Regina and Betty Sell all of Fall Creek, Marion (Michael) Stokes of Eau Claire; 13 nieces and nephews; and several cousins.
Don was preceded in death by his father Edwin in 1978: mother Viola in 1997; brother Steve in infancy; siblings, Geraldine Sell in 2020, Gary Sell in 2008, Nancy Olson in 2017; and brother-in-law Terry Olson in 1999.
A visitation will be held Thursday, July 11, 2024, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Anderson Funeral Home in Augusta. Funeral services will be held Friday at 11:00 a.m. at St. John’s Lutheran Church, rural Fall Creek with Pastor Harris officiating.
Burial will be in the church cemetery.
