Kenneth Carl Simpson, 77, of Altoona, passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his family on October 9, 2024. He courageously battled cancer for 2 ½ years before the Lord decided to bring him to his eternal home.
Kenny was born September 30, 1947 in Chicago, IL to Marie and Elmer Simpson, and they moved to Morton Grove in 1952. He graduated from Luther North HS and Kendall Jr College. He served in the Navy at Glenview Naval Air Base from 1968-1971.
Kenny was hired by the U.S. Postal Service in Des Plaines, IL then transferred to Eau Claire, WI in 1980 where he met the love of his life Jeannie Cain on August 22nd . They married exactly one year later on August 22, 1981.
He carried mail until retirement in 2006 after 27 years of service. He loved golf, old Studebakers and V.W. campers, annual Kentucky Derby parties, and had a heart for rescue animals. He also loved supporting his kids and grandkids in all their sports, where he was their number one fan.
Kenny had a unique way of showing his love to people in his life with personalized, creative gifts. If you ever received one, you know what that means.
Kenny was preceded in death by his parents and his godfather Carl Kluge. He is survived by his wife Jean, son Shane (Tera), daughter Darby (Garrett) Smith, five grandchildren Cullen, Bennett & Cassidy Simpson, and Weston & Colton Smith, twin brother Keith (Sandee), brother Craig (Gail), niece Kelly (Scott) Vorpahl, nephew Kurt (Samantha) Simpson, nephew Matthew Simpson, along with many other nieces, nephews, in-laws, cousins, and special friends.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 19 at 11:00 am at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Altoona. Visitation will begin at 10:00 am until the time of service. A private burial will be held at the Northern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Spooner, WI at a later date.
