Richard Stewart
Richard Stewart passed away suddenly and unexpectedly at home on June 10th. After growing up in Osseo Wisconsin, Rick lived in Delavan, WI, and then Manitowish Waters, WI, where he lived with his wife and high school sweetheart, Paula, for the past 30 years.

Rick was born to Ardis and Danny Stewart on December 5, 1953. He was baby brother to Larry and Penny (Erickson) and maintained a close relationship with the entire Stewart Clan his whole life.

At Osseo High School, Rick was a multi-sport athlete but also an art room staple. His talent for both took him to Gateway in Kenosha where he played basketball and majored in horticulture. While in college, Rick & Paula’s daughter Erinn was born. Later they moved to Delavan, WI where they lived as a family for 19 years. While there Rick worked for Anvan Corp. As a landscaper, he worked closely with people of all backgrounds and was adamant about treating ALL people with respect and dignity.

After Erinn graduated high school, Rick & Paula moved to Manitowish Waters, where they have lived for the past 30 years. Rick was a landscape designer for Stoney Creek. He poured his creative talents into each landscape design and the result was art on paper converted to art in nature. He was a conservationist and an outdoorsman. He made an annual pilgrimage back to Osseo for Deer Camp where he loved spending time with friends and family. He enjoyed many other outdoor activities including kayaking, hiking, and snowshoeing, always eager to point out and teach his companions about the plants along the way.

When Rick was a young man, he spent time working at the Notre Dame Biology Property in Upper Michigan with his Uncle Stu and Aunt Sarah. This wilderness is where he developed his life long love of fishing. When Erinn married her husband Jim, he gained a new fishing partner. When they had their three kids, he gained three more. Owen, Evan and Mia were his favorite people to be in the boat with. Maybe the only thing he enjoyed more was cheering the three of them on in their basketball games.

Rick was an extremely proud father, grandfather and husband. They would have celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary this summer. He will be deeply missed by wife Paula; daughter Erinn (Jim) Letts and grandchildren Owen, Evan, and Mia of Maplewood, MN; brother Larry (Thelest) Stewart of Gainesville, GA; sister Penny Erickson of Osseo, WI; sister-in-law and brother-in-law Peggy and David Lundberg of Osseo, WI; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Rick was preceded in death by his parents Danny and Ardis; infant brother Lenny; brother-in-law Ron Erickson; mother-in-law and father-in-law Evelyn and Harlan Johnson; sister-in-law Lori Jacobson; and other beloved relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held Monday, June 17, 2024, at 1:00 p.m. at the Osseo Evangelical Lutheran Church in Osseo. Friends may call Sunday from 4 to 6 p.m. at the church and also one hour prior to services Monday at the church.
