After his father passed away on July 8, 1984, he and his mother moved to Augusta to be closer to her family. While in Augusta he graduated from Augusta High School in 1991.

He was also an avid fan of the Green Bay Packers and when the game was on he was always glued to the TV. He enjoyed going to demolition derbies, races and fairs. You could often find him grilling out and sitting by a bonfire either at home or on a camping trip. He enjoyed spending time with his family and getting the chance to see everyone wherever he was.
