Edith Potts
Edith Earleen Potts, two days shy of her 91st birthday, passed away early Saturday morning, September 13, 2025, at Lake Hallie Memory Care, rural Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin. 

Edith was born September 15, 1934, in Ludington Township, Eau Claire County, the daughter of Clarence and Ella (Brevig) Jaenke.After graduating from Augusta High School, Edith was united in marriage to Richard James Potts on March 1, 1952 in Eau Claire. 

The couple made their permanent home in Lake Hallie, where they spent most of their married life together. Following Richard’s passing on May 6, 1995, Edith remained in their home until moving to Homestead Village in Chippewa Falls and later Lake Hallie Memory Care.In her early years, Edith worked as a nanny for Dale and Lizette Randall and occasionally helped out at the family-run restaurant, Bluebird Café. Over the years in addition to raising her family, Edith worked at the Egg Palace, Fabri-Tek and at Uniroyal Tire Company in Eau Claire where she later retired from. 

She was a longtime member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Eau Claire, where she enjoyed being part of the St. John’s Ladies’ Society and helping wherever she was needed.Edith was a warm, kind, and loving person who was deeply respected and truly loved by her family. 

She will be dearly missed, especially by her two daughters Debra Plath and Lucy Behrens, and her son, David (Julie) Potts all of Eau Claire; daughter-in-law Trudy Potts of Clam Lake; 17 grandchildren and step grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, and 9 great-great-grandchildren; brothers Charles (Bertha) Jaenke of Chippewa Falls, Gordon (Joanne) Jaenke and Brent (Wendy) Jaenke both of Eau Claire, Craig (Deb) Jaenke of Beloit, Illinois; and sister Elizabeth Kelsey of Portland, Oregon.

In addition to her husband; Edith was also preceded in death by her parents; an infant son Dennis; son Gayle; daughter-in-law Linda Potts; sisters, Jeri (Bill) Aldrich and Evelyn (Larry) Wold, brother-in-law Larry Kelsey, and sister-in-law Casey Jaenke. 

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, September 18, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Eau Claire, with Pastor Christine Emerson officiating. Following the service, burial will be in West Lawn Cemetery in Augusta. 

A visitation will be held from 4-7 p.m., Wednesday, September 17 at the Anderson Funeral Home in Augusta, and one hour prior to services on Thursday at the church.

 The family would like to extend their gratitude to the residents and staff at Lake Hallie Memory Care, who created a warm and loving community that felt like home and where Edith was truly happy. 

A special thank you is also extended to Lilly Home Hospice for the compassionate care and support provided to Edith and her family during this final chapter of her life. Your kindness and compassion will never be forgotten.
