Jake Wagner
Jake Weston Wagner, 36, of Durand and formerly of Augusta, passed away tragically on Saturday evening, July 19, 2025, as a result of injuries sustained in a one-vehicle accident in the town of Springbrook, Dunn County.

Jake was born in Eau Claire on  June 30, 1989, to Dale and Judith (Hovde) Wagner. After the passing of his father when Jake was only 14 months, his family remained in Eau Claire until moving to Augusta in 1999.
Jake attended Boyd Elementary School in Eau Claire, later completing his education at Augusta Elementary and graduating from Augusta High School in 2007. He went on to attend Vermilion College in Ely, Minnesota, before enlisting in the Army National Guard. He was overseas for over a year, with eight months of his enlistment proudly served in Iraq. While in the service he was the recipient of several medals.  Following his honorable discharge, Jake returned to Eau Claire and began working at PDM Bridge, now known as Veritas Steel. Through hard work and dedication, he rose to the position of supervisor in the paint department.

Jake had a strong sense of honor and often spoke of wanting to return to service to support those he had left behind in Iraq. He was a proud man, a natural leader, and someone who carried a deep respect for his work and responsibilities.

He had a lifelong love of deer hunting and a strong interest in firearms, often learning about their mechanics and enjoyed practicing and seeing how accurate his shot was. A history buff, Jake could often be found watching documentaries and sharing his interest with others, and he also had a keen knowledge of the Bible. He found peace driving his Jeeps along back country roads with the music turned up, and he took great joy in raising several German Shepherds over the years.

Jake valued his friendships and family above all. He will be remembered for his loyalty, work ethic, and the deep care he had for those close to him.

He is survived by his beloved mother, Judy Lone and his stepfather who was also an important and supportive figure in his life, Glenn Lone, both of Augusta; brothers,  Josh Burgey of Rock Falls and Gene Wagner( Wendy Tubbs) of Eau Claire; sisters, Jamie Fleener ( Shawn)of Eau Claire and Jessica Wagner ( Bennie Samuelson) of Rock Falls; nieces and nephews, Clifford Wagner, Jordin Guntner, Savannah Fleener, and Sierra Fleener; several cousins, aunts, uncles and friends. A special companion Becky McCann of Durand, and her son, Landon Haddman, both of whom held a treasured place in his heart. Also his faithful canine friend Saxon.

Jake was preceded in death by his father, Dale Wagner on September 17, 1990;  grandparents, Reuben and Ruth Wagner, and Lawrence and Arlene Hovde; and step-grandparents, Gordon and Arlys Lone.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, July 28, 2025, at First Baptist Church in Augusta. Friends may call 2 hours prior to the services on Monday, starting at 9:00 a.m. at the church.

Following the services a lunch and time to meet with the family will be held at the Augusta Lions Hall from noon to 2:30 p.m. with burial and military rites at  3:00 p.m. on Monday at Rest Haven Cemetery in Eau Claire.
