Elaine Sell, 74, of rural Augusta, passed away with her family by her side on Monday afternoon, June 15, 2026, at Mayo Clinic Health System in Eau Claire.
Elaine Marie Sell was born July 10, 1951, to Lloyd and Arlene (Holbrook) Starck. She was raised in the Cadott area, attended Big Drywood Country School, and graduated from Cadott High School in 1969. She later attended Chippewa Valley Technical College, enrolled in the Certified Nursing Assistant program.
As a teenager, Elaine worked as a live-in nanny, caring for children while attending school. She also worked at Ted's Restaurant in Cadott. Following completion of her CNA training, she worked for a time at Luther Hospital in Eau Claire.
Elaine was united in marriage to Duane Sell on March 27, 1971, in Cadott. Together they farmed on County Road JJ near Fall Creek for many years before moving in 2000 to their current home on County Road M east of Augusta.
Throughout her life, Elaine enjoyed sewing and had a special love for fabrics and textiles. She worked at Mill End Textiles in Eau Claire and later at Nortech Industries in Augusta. In addition to sewing, she enjoyed embroidery, crafts, word-find puzzles, gardening, canning, scrapbooking, and researching family genealogy.
Elaine loved spending time with her family and especially enjoyed the times she traveled with her family to Yellowstone National Park, trips to see her daughter in California and Georgia, and attending a family reunion in Washington State. Most of all, however she was happiest when at home, with the family stopping in, or keeping busy with her many hobbies, always finding something creative to do with her hands.
Elaine will be deeply missed by her husband Duane; 3 daughters, Tammy (Devin) Schlewitz of Fall Creek, Trudy (Nathan) Edwards of Mooresville, North Carolina, Tannya (James) Stone of Augusta; son Troy Sell (Jolene) of Fall Creek; 13 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren; 2 brothers, Albert Starck and Earl (Amee) Starck all of Barron; and sister Jane Bates of Pfluggerville, Texas.
Elaine was preceded in death by her parents, Lloyd and Arlene.
A visitation will be held Sunday, June 21, 2026, from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Anderson Funeral Home in Augusta.
