Lewis A. Buchanan, “Louieâ€?, 75, of Augusta, WI, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 28, 2012 at Sacred Heart Hospital in Eau Claire, WI. Lewis Alton Buchanan was born July 24, 1937 in Tomah, WI, son of William and Nina (Thunder) Buchanan. He was raised in Sparta, where he attended Sparta High School. Following high school he served in the United States Navy. Â
He was united in marriage to Joycelyn Blackcoon on Nov. 8, 1964 in Baraboo, WI. The couple lived in Baraboo for 7 years, where Louie worked as a police officer. From Baraboo they moved to Eau Claire, before moving to Augusta in 1971. Louie had been employed at the Uniroyal Tire Company until ill health forced his retirement. Throughout the years he had enjoyed bow and gun hunting, fishing, following the Green Bay Packers and playing Bingo. Â
He will be deeply missed by his wife, Joycelyn of Augusta; 2 sons, Thomas Buchanan (Carol Milligan) of Neillsville, William Buchanan of Augusta; daughter, Stephanie (Ronald) Sell of Fall Creek; 5 grandchildren, Cody and Nina Buchanan, Joshua and Taylor Sell and Justine Roy. He was preceded in death by his parents and infant sister, Anna Mae. Â
Native American Church Services will be held Saturday, Dec. 1, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. at the Anderson Funeral Home in Augusta, with burial in the West Lawn Cemetery in Augusta. A visitation will be held Friday from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Anderson Funeral Home in Augusta. A Native American Prayer Service will he held Tuesday evening at the funeral home starting at 5:00 p.m.
