Harriet Deacon
Harriet A. Deacon, 81, of 1325 Summit Street, Eau Claire, passed away Sunday, Nov. 4, 2012, at her home.

Harriet Ann Deacon, daughter of Albert and Ella (Klatt) Steinke, was born June 7, 1931, in Garfield Township, Jackson County. She was raised in the Augusta area , where she was baptized and confirmed at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Hay Creek, and graduated from Augusta High School in 1949. After graduation she had lived in Iowa and Illinois, before moving to Burlington, WI, in 1962, where she worked at Trostel Industries. In 1973, she moved to Eau Claire. Harriet enjoyed the time she had spent working in various restaurants in her younger years, and baking for her family and friends; especially bread and cookies. Over the years she enjoyed the opportunity to bowl on various bowling leagues wherever she was living. She also enjoyed crocheting, dancing, playing cards, bingo and even computer games. Harriet’s family meant the world to her, spending time with the grandchildren and great grandchildren. She looked forward to the annual deer hunt; as she loved being with the family cutting up the deer and the camaraderie that went with it.

She will be deeply missed by her 5 children, daughter, Mary (Scott) Schoettle of Fall Creek; 4 sons, Richard (Sally) Claflin, Dayle (Ann) Claflin, Keith Deacon and Bruce Deacon all of Eau Claire; 2 sisters, Alice (Arnold) Zillmer of Kenosha, Deloris Steinke of Augusta; aunt, Ethel Klatt of Altoona; sisters-in-law, Peggy Steinke of Pigeon Falls, Karen (Ramon) Varrientos of Porterfield, WI, Willow Dean Steinke of Fairchild; 7 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, 6 brothers, Art, Bill, Lester, Howard, Roger and Norman Steinke; and nephew, David Steinke.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, Nov. 10, 2012 at 2 :00 p.m. at the Anderson Funeral Home in Augusta, with burial at a later date in the Hay Creek Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. on Friday and one hour prior to services Saturday at the funeral home.
