Allen and Iris Larson
Allan Jay Larson, 75, of Montrose, Minn., formerly of Fairchild and Eau Claire, passed away Sunday, Aug. 8, 2010, at his home in Montrose after a valiant battle with cancer. Allan’s wife, Iris Ann Larson, 72, of Montrose, formerly of Augusta, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 27, 2009 at the Howard Lake Good Samaritan Center in Howard Lake, MN.  

Allan was born in Fairchild on De. 27, 1934, to Otis and Zelma (Miller) Larson and spent his youth in the Fairchild area. Allan entered the U.S. Army right after high school, serving in Japan during the Korean conflict. After being discharged from the army he went to work for the Conservation Corp of Wisconsin, John Deere plant in Waterloo, Iowa, before settling at the Chicago and Northwestern Railroad in Altoona as a mechanic and bridge worker. 

Iris Ann Lipke Larson, daughter of Frank and Amanda (Johnston) Lipke was born Feb. 23, 1937, at her parent’s home in Bridge Creek Township, rural Augusta. Iris was raised in Augusta where she graduated from Augusta High School in 1955. Allan and Iris were united in marriage on March 2, 1957, in Osseo; they were blessed with four children and Iris enjoyed her life as a stay at home mom. Allan was transferred with the railroad to the twin cities area, where he retired from the railroad. After Allan’s retirement he and Iris took employment with the First Student Bus Company in Orono, Minnesota. Allan drove bus with the company and Iris drove a van for special needs children. Allan also enjoyed the good things in life like hunting, fishing, trapping, camping and driving the kids on the bus. Everyone who knew Allan was deeply touched by his generosity and great prankster personality. Iris was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who was always willing to help out where and when she could.  

Allan and Iris are survived by their four children, Faith (Don) Larson of Delano, Minn., Jeff (Linda) Larson of Augusta, Darrell (Charlene Vail) Larson of Montrose, Minn., Peggy Larson of Watertown, Minn.: 11 grandchildren, Nicole (Josh Sheridan) Larson of Watertown, Minn., Dale Larson of Eau Claire, Brandon Nagel of Hutchinson, Minn., Melissa (Eric) Vanderlinen of Osseo, Minn., Tracy and Terri Larson both of Augusta, Peter Larson of Albertville, Minn., Mindy Larson of Montrose, Minn., and Maisy McKown of Watertown, Minn., Kari (Jeremy) Hausladen of Hutchinson, Minn., Mike Vail of Paynesville, Minn.; and nine great grandchildren, Aubrey Sheridan, Dalton and Caiden Vanderlinen, Kayleah Nagel, Khristian and Samantha Larson, Nathanale McKown, Josie and Sydney Hausladen. The couple is further survived by Allan‘s brother, James (Marilyn) Larson of Eau Claire; twin sister, Alice Pingle of Eau Claire; and their sister-in-law, Karen Larson of Eau Claire, other relatives and friends.  
The couple were both preceded in death by their parents, grandson Steven Larson, Allan’s brother, William Larson and Iris’s sister, Carol Lipke.  

Memorial services for both Allan and Iris will be held Sat. April 28, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at the Anderson Funeral Home in Augusta, with Pastor Dale Hazard officiating. Burial will be in the East Lawn Cemetery in Augusta
