Dorothy Peterson
Dorothy Peterson, 92, formerly of Elmwood, Strum and Augusta, passed away Monday evening, Sept. 24, 2012 at Sacred Heart Hospital in Eau Claire.

Dorothy, daughter of Matt and Mary (Borofka) Sickora, was born April 21, 1920 in New Auburn, and as a child moved with her family to Eau Claire. She was baptized into the Catholic faith and later re-baptized into the Lutheran faith. Dorothy was united in marriage to Laurence Elmer Peterson on October 5, 1935. In the early 1940’s the couple moved to Milwaukee and in 1971 moved to Elmwood. Her husband Laurence passed away on October 13, 1974. Dorothy moved to the Augusta Housing Apartments in 1982, to Strum in 1995 and returned to Augusta in 2000, where she then lived at the St. Paul’s Apartments. Due to failing health in January of 2010, she entered Grace Woodland Assisted Living in Eau Claire. If you knew Dorothy, you knew that she enjoyed life and lived it to the fullest. She enjoyed fishing, camping, traveling, dancing and being with family and friends. If there was a social event and she was able, she was there. Her family meant the world to her and she had also enjoyed her feline companionship of Tommy and Boots.

She will be deeply missed by her daughter, Donna (LaMoine) Behlke of Fairchild; 7 grandchildren, Marilyn Noggle (Dan Gorkowski), Cindy (Todd) Bertrang, Denice Edwards (Brian Hooker), Rodney Street (Staci Edwards) all of Fairchild, Debbie (Dave) Hagen of Eau Claire, Sheila (Jerome) LePage of Withee, Leann (Mitch) Balliett of Augusta; 16 great grandchildren and 10 great great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

She was also preceded in death by her daughter, Bonnie Lou in 1937, grandson, Jerry Edwards, great grandson, Micah, 4 sisters, Beatrice Holcomb, Helen Nelson, Leona Peterson, Lona Emberts; 2 brothers, Leon and Nick Sickora; ½ siblings, Agnes, George and Jim Pecha.

Funeral services will be held at noon on Sat. Sept. 29, 2012 at the Anderson Funeral Home in Augusta, with Pastor Dale Hazard officiating. Burial will be in the Lakeview Cemetery in Eau Claire. Friends may call 2 hours prior to services Saturday at the funeral home.

Dorothy’s family would like to sincerely thank the staff at Grace Woodland and Sacred Heart Hospital, for the genuine concern and wonderful care given to Dorothy.
