Kit Warner, 60, of rural Cadott, Seymour Township, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Saturday morning, March 10, 2012. Â
Kit Patrick Warner , son of Robert and Bessie (McCarty) Warner, was born Dec. 5, 1951, in Eau Claire. He was baptized and confirmed at Grace Lutheran Church in Augusta, attended Kirkham Valley County School and graduated from Augusta High School in 1970. After graduation he moved to Missoula, Montana, where he attended college. Â
He was united in marriage to Cindy Weeks on Aug. 6, 1971, in Kentucky. At this time in his life he joined the Army Reserves and was driving semi for Bush Brother’s Canning Company. In the early 1980’s he went to Active Duty Reserves and served with the Army until his honorable discharge as a Master Sergeant in 2007. While in the service he was stationed in Pennsylvania, Ladysmith, Wisconsin, Montana and Texas, with his last assignment at Ft. Leonard Wood, Missouri. While in Ladysmith he attained his degree at Mount Senario. His longest assignment was at Fort Hood, Texas. While at Fort Hood he was deployed to Iraq, where he served one tour as a combat engineer, working with construction and demolition of strategic areas and detection of land mines. While in Iraq he was awarded the Bronze Star and over the years was the recipient of numerous medals, ribbons, badges, decorations and citations. Before his discharge, he was teaching and also involved with quality assurance concerning construction and demolition. When he retired he returned to Wisconsin and settled in Seymour Township, where he built his present home and was driving truck for Brunzlick Trucking out of Augusta. He was currently involved in the Augusta community, where he was a member and served as treasurer of United Methodist Church. He was also a member of the Augusta Lions Club, V.F.W. and American Legion Post. Over the years he had enjoyed playing cards, especially Hearts and while in Iraq he gave himself the distinction of “International Heart Champion.â€? He also enjoyed time spent with family, hunting in Wisconsin and out west, fishing in Canada and riding horses. He dearly loved his grandchildren and cherished the time spent with them.Â
He will be forever loved and deeply missed by Cindy, his wife of 40 years; 2 daughters, Adele (Randall) Thermes of Eau Claire, Lynn Topper and friend Todd Johnson of Augusta; son, Ty (Kaci) Warner of Eagle River; 8 grandchildren, Kennedy and Ryann Brown, Taylor Thermes, Samuel, Nolan and Hudson Warner, Wyatt and Laura Topper; mother and step-father, Bessie and Jim Whalen of Augusta; 2 sisters, Becky (Butch) Wilkinson of Merrillan, Wendy (Vern) Luedtke of Fall Creek; 3 brothers, Wade (Cheryl) Warner of Augusta, Cole Warner of Holmen, Dusty (Joyce) Warner of Fairchild, aunts and uncles, Nancy Metz, Shirley (Jack) Smith, Gary (Marge) Warner, Hilda Berg, Bob (Arlene) McCarty; several cousins and many friends. Â
He was preceded in death by his father, Robert on March 27, 1993, sister, Crystal Dake on Aug. 25, 1976, and granddaughter, Lillian Elizabeth Topper. Â
Funeral services will be held Wed. March 14, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at the United Methodist Church in Augusta, with Pastor Doris Simpson officiating. Burial with full military rites will be held in the East Lawn Cemetery in Augusta. Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday at the Anderson Funeral Home in Augusta, and one hour prior to services Wednesday at the church.Â
