Paulette Ruth Rud (Looker)was born in Osseo, WI, on August 8, 1946, the daughter of Thomas and Dorothy (Schmidt) Looker. She spent the majority of her youth in the Augusta and Osseo areas, graduating from Osseo High School with the Class of 1964.
Shortly after high school, Paulette was united in marriage to Terry Rud. The couple lived briefly in Waukesha before returning to Osseo, and together they welcomed 3 children into the world: Michael, Kelly, & Jeffrey. Following their later divorce, Paulette was blessed with the birth of two additional daughters: Erin & Ashley.
Paulette moved in the area several times, as well as living in Las Vegas with her children for a year before returning to Wisconsin to make her home in Cadott. While in Cadott, she attended CVTC earning her degree in accounting.
Eventually she moved to Osseo, where she managed the accounting books for Henry Anderson at A&K Forestry (which later became BC Magnum Outdoors Forestry and Wildlife Services in Eau Claire). She remained in this position until her retirement in 2013.
Since 2006, Paulette had made her home in Eau Claire. Recently, she entered Mayo Clinic Health System in Eau Claire, where she passed away early Sunday afternoon, October 4, 2026 at the age of 80 years old.
Paulette was a gifted seamstress, and one of her favorite pastimes was sewing quilts, table runners, even a couple flowergirl dresses. She use to love planting her flower beds & always had lots of house plants. The thrill of the hunt when it came to thrifting and stopping at countless garage sales over the years was always something she enjoyed.
At home, Paulette liked to unwind by watching classic TV westerns and was particularly fond of Law & Order: SVU episodes. She was a tremendous fan of both George Strait and Elvis Presley, lovingly collecting not only their music but also their photos and memorabilia.
Though she eventually stopped driving, her days remained filled with connection. She looked forward to the companionship created with her dedicated IRIS caregivers that helped her weekly. But, nothing brought her more joy than when family and friends visited to share updates on their lives.
Paulette is survived by her 5 children: Mike Rud of Eau Claire, Kelly Herrick of Huntsville, AL, Jeff Rud of Eleva, Erin (Shaun) Everson of Osseo, and Ashley Marion (Brian Weber) of Eau Claire; 14 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren; her siblings: Tom Looker, Tim Looker, Peggy (Joe) Thomley.
She was preceded in death by her parents: Tom and Dorothy Looker; her beloved grandparents: Carl and Esther Schmidt; and step-grandfather Ray Chambers.
As requested by Paulette, private burial services will be held in the West Lawn Cemetery in Augusta.
The family would like to take this time to thank the staff at Mayo Clinic Health System, especially- Oncology, Palliative Care, the CCU nurses & Dr. Kamyar Haghayeghi, for the exceptional care, support, and kindness shown to Paulette and her family during this time. As well as appreciating the humor in having the life-size George Straight visiting her room. It was greatly appreciated.
